Dandenong Patterns

by Sayraphim on August 16, 2016

Dandenong Patterns is a new guerrilla kindness work inspired by historic architectural details found in and around the Greater Dandenong Area, being presented at the Cultural Threads festival throughout August in Dandenong.

The public has sent me photos of wrought iron fences, stained glass windows, wooden gables, plaster corbels, mosaicked paths and other small house or building features, which have been used to create the embroideries for the project. These photos are currently on display in the window box facing Thomas St outside the Dandenong Library.

Finished embroideries will be framed and placed around the streets of Greater Dandenong in two co-ordinated ‘drops’ for people to find and take home.
