Sayraphim Lothian (they/them)

Sayraphim Lothian is a queer, non binary artist who creates playful experiences for people.

They are a jack of all trades. If something can be made, they've probably had a red hot go at it at some stage in their many and varied careers.

Their main body of public artworks, ‘Guerrilla Kindness’, leaves tiny handcrafted artworks out on the street for people to find and take home, injecting tiny, unexpected and magical moments in passers-by’s lives. They aim to remind people of the niceness of life, as rewards those who take the time to stop and look around them once in a while. These works can be found in streets all around the world.

Guerrilla Kindness is part of the larger Craftivism movement, using craft for activist purposes. It was the focus of their 2018 book, Guerrilla Kindness and Other Acts of Creative Resistance: Making A Better World Through Craftivism.

Their participatory work in theatre and games creates bridges between participants, allowing moments of loveliness to flow between strangers. They are about the sharing of experiences and the fleeting but meaningful connections made. They are about rediscovering joy in oneself and realising it abounds in other people.

They are also an author, a curator, a games designer, an educator and have previously worked in film and television, as a primary school teacher and university lecturer, a photographer, a graphic designer, and a lot of customer service jobs.
